We took an important step at the beginning of the new school year: Every student at our school was able to vote for a class representative. Through this election, we want to involve our children more strongly, hear their voices and actively incorporate them in everyday life at school.
After the election, we got together with all of the 24 freshly elected class representatives for a first meeting. We played a short game as an ice breaker so that all of the students had the chance to get to know each other a little bit better. After that we discussed the responsibilities of a class representative - for example standing up for the classes interests and concerns. Over the course of the meeting, the children brought up first ideas for topics:
We are proud of our students for enthusiastically taking on their new commitments and responsibilities. Not only do we want to involve our students more through electing class representatives, but also give them the chance to experience democratic processes - an important building block for their future.
