The World of Books

The World of Books

A book: A common object, a given for many people - for our children however, books are an entirely new world. This week, we took our youngest students on a special adventure: Exploring the world of books! Many of them had never held a book in their own hands before.

First, we had a discussion: What does a book look like? What is a book title? Who is the author? And why do books have a cover? For some of our children, these things were very new - but their curiosity was piqued!

Then it was time for creativity. Every child got to ask themselves the question: 'If I wrote a book, what would I write about?' Using an app, they created their own book covers and showed them proudly to their friends.

Rojhat and Marwan would like to write a book about football.
Bewar, Süheyla and Yara thought of a story about a cat and a bee.
Ala and Samih imagined a bee in Germany.
Cidem would write about horses.
Metin and Nursin decided on a book about animals.

So many creative ideas with a lot of enthusiasm! At the end, all of them desperately wanted to listen to a story being read aloud. Suddenly, books were no longer unfamiliar - they were now exciting, lively and full of magic.
