First Aid Workshop: Knowledge That Can Save Lives

There was another first aid workshop at our school today, this time for a different class. These workshops are of great meaning for our students as they live in refugee camps and are constantly being confronted with dangerous situations.

Especially impressive was the visit of the JCC Duhok team that brought their ambulance today. The children had the chance of looking at it close up and understanding how professional first-aiders work. We would like to thank the THW for their support and the JCC team for carrying out this valuable workshop!

Why is first aid so important? A couple of days ago, a tragic accident happened: Because of a short circuit, a family's tent caught fire - it was the tent of two of our students. The children suffered terrible burns and their mother was gravely hurt as well. They are still at the hospital. Accidents like these sadly happen way too often. This is why knowledge about life saving measures can be so crucial; this is the reason why we carry out first aid workshops regularly. At the end of the workshop, every participant received a small first aid bag to take home. A small, but important measure for more safety in our student's daily lives.

We want to express a big 'Thank You!' to everyone who made this training possible. Thank you for your time, your expertise and your support. Togther, we can help children act accordingly and maybe even safe lives in difficult situations.
