World Environment Day at our School

We carried out a special project together with our students at our school in honour of World Environment Day. Our school for refugee children in northern Iraq transformed into a place of education and action in order to celebrate and promote the importance of environmental protection.

We equipped our classrooms with exciting educational stations: \- an informative video about environmental protection \- a fun game about recycling \- creative crafting of brooms out of plastic cups \- and many more activities that encourage critical thinking.

The highlight of the day was our joint activity: In groups, we cleaned up our village and collected trash. This activity was not only a valuable lesson in environmental protection but also an important contribution towards the improvement of the living conditions in our region. Why is this so important? In the refugee camps and the nearby areas, the environment is oftentimes drastically polluted. Through our activities, we not only want to create awareness but also effectively bring change. Every small step counts and together, we can achieve greatness.
