Norms and Values are Key to a Better Future

At our school for refugee children, we focus not only on education, but also teach codes of conduct like respectful behaviour. We want our children who live in nearby refugee camps to learn as well as take away important values for their lives.

On two exciting extracurricular days, we set up several stations that mirror aspects of daily life at our school: office, hygiene, kitchen, schoolyard, playground equipment and communication. The children went from station to station and learned the most important behavioural rules in a playful way - taught by motivated teachers who participated, filled with joy and kindness.

Next, the children got creative and designed posters with their teachers that summarised the most important rules. These are now being displayed in our school hallway as reminders that visualise our values clearly to everyone.
