Our Bridge: Arisen from the Ashes

Today, 3 August, 2024 marks the 10 year anniversary. One century ago, the Yazidi community was shattered by a horrible crime. From the ashes of this tragedy arose our educational center; a place to bring hope and new beginnings for many children and widows.

Our team is currently on site in Shingal in order to attend the remembrance ceremoy and to give the victims a voice. Our local work is of invaluable importance. We support families like Gawre's (2nd image), who in 2014 was the only member of her family that was able to escape. Back then, she was pregnant with her son Heval who later became one of our students. Nine of her children and her husband were displaced - today, two of her daughters, two of her sons and her husband are still missing. Despite of her unimaginable suffering, Gawre has never given up.

Gawre has been a part of the Our Bridge program since 2014 and receives urgently needed financial aid. Today, her son Heval attends our school and gets the chance for a better future because of it. Stories like Gawre's are the reason why our work is so important.

Help us to continue to support families like Gawre's. Every contribution counts.
