Our Mission: Hope and Education for the Children from Sinjar

For almost a century, specifically since October 2014, we at Our Bridge e.V. have tirelessly been standing up for the refugee children from Sinjar. These children had to flee from the horrors of the self proclaimed Islamic State and now make up the heart and soul of our school in Northern Iraq. Our goal is not only providing them with education, but also with hope and the chance for a brighter future.

Today, we'd like to give you some insights into our godfather program, an important pillar of our work. Sultan and Shanaz, who are in charge of our godfather program on-site, are constantly making contact with the children who live in the Khanke refugee camp, located only a couple hundred of meters away from our school. Their task is finding children in need that urgently need support. Our criteria are clear: We take in children who are orphans, half-orphans, children who have been rescued from ISIS captivity, children with physical or mental disabilities as well as children who live in severe poverty. Children come to our office daily in order to register themselves for our program and our team is making sure that every single protegé receives the attention and support that they deserve.

Despite our efforts, many children are still waiting for a sponsorship. By signing up to be a godfather, you can actively help and give these children a chance for a better future.
