Ten Years After The Genocide Against the Yazidi - In Remembrance

August 3, 2024 marks the 10 year anniversary of the genocide against the Yazidi. On that day, thousands of innocent people were brutally murdered, displaced and enslaved. Entire villages were obliterated and the survivors were forced to flee.

Our organisation Our Bridge e.V. was founded in 2014 in order to help these survivors. In the beginning, we offered direct help through a sponsorship program and later through building an orphanage that now serves as a school and offers education and protection for more than 400 children.

On August 3, 2024 we return to Sinjar for a remembrance ceremony and to observe the current situation. In particular, we want to commemorate the people of Kojo, a village that bore witness to a terrible massacre on August 15, 2014. That day, the village lost almost all of its male residents while the women and children were displaced and enslaved. The Kojo massacre remains one of the darkest chapters of the genocide and is a painful symbol for the unimaginable suffering the Yazidi had to endure.

Despite this dark past, there is hope. Our work shows that it is possible to create a better future for the next generation. We invite you to become part of our bridge and give hope to a child by becoming a godfather in our sponsorship program.

Thank You for your support. Let us commemorate the victims and fight for a better future.
